Channel Edge supplies and installs projectors, plasmas, interactive whiteboards, audio and AV control systems to schools, colleges, businesses, factories, hospitals, prisons, churches, showrooms and homes.

Through our websites, www.avshopper.co.uk and www.projectorpeople.co.uk, we’ve also built a reputation for supplying quality audio visual (AV) products at keen prices. We’re a small business, led by a hands-on managing director, that is growing rapidly.

The fastest growing area of our business is custom installation of AV equipment – including in challenging settings where we take on installations that others may avoid. We’re now looking to extend our team of busy installers through the following full-time jobs.

JOB REF: SIE01 – Senior AV Installation Engineer
You will be reliable, trustworthy and not afraid of hard work and long hours to finish a job to demanding quality standards.  You will be expected to travel to jobs across the UK and be capable of completing jobs alone, or leading a small team.

We’re looking for the sort of person who doesn’t walk away from a job until it’s as perfect as it can be – our reputation and repeat business rests on our staff’s commitment to quality.

You should either have worked at lead installer level in a similar field previously, or have transferable skills and experience which would include: Knowledge of current AV products including cabling and switching solutions; good traditional/practical skills for  mounting product safely and securely; ability to assess the needs of a job and come up with solutions for problems; experience in supervising other staff on complex practical projects; knowledge of health and safety issues. Certification in electrical installation work would be an advantage, but not essential.

You need to be comfortable dealing with clients on site and, because we often work in sensitive settings such as schools or institutions, you will be required to undergo a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check.  You will also need a full driving licence.

Salary is up to £20,000 pa dependent on experience. Hours will be flexible to suit the needs of particular projects, including overnight stays where needed, but will average 40hrs pwk, with 21 days holiday pa.

JOB REF: TIE02 – Trainee AV Installer
You will be reliable, trustworthy and not afraid of hard work and long hours to help your team complete a job to demanding quality standards.  You will be travelling with a senior installer to jobs across the UK, and this may include overnight hotel stays.

You need to be practical, comfortable using power tools, physically strong and fit (plasmas are heavy!), keen to learn and pro-actively helping your colleagues to get jobs completed on-time and to our high standards.

An interest in and some understanding of setting up and installing audio / visual equipment or computers will be an advantage.

On-the-job training will be given in installing AV systems. You will be expected to undertake AV industry standard qualifications through on-line study. Day release study for engineering installation qualifications may be considered for the right candidate.

You need to enjoy working as part of a team and be comfortable dealing with members of the public on site and, because we often work in sensitive settings such as schools or institutions, you will be required to undergo a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check.

Salary is up to £13,000 pa. dependent on experience. Hours will be flexible to suit the needs of particular projects, including overnight stays where needed, but will average 40 pwk, including day release training time, with 21 days holiday pa.
